Southern soul food is the way to the heart, so why not update your traditional Thanksgiving recipes with some unique flavors that will enhance your holiday classics? From a glazed turkey to honey peach pie, here’s a few special recipes that will have your family and friends going back for seconds.

Bourbon and Maple Glazed Turkey

By Biscuits and Such. Click here for recipe.

A deep fryer + a Bourbon maple glaze = your best turkey ever. The key to making this deep-fried delight is a bit of patience. Once the turkey is cooked to golden perfection, add the glaze every 10 minutes for approximately an hour.

Roasted Okra

By For the Love of the South. Click here for recipe.

You'll never want to fry your okra again. The trick to roasting okra is in the size and the preparation: Buy okra the length of your pinky for the most flavor, and slice them length-wise to bring out the natural sweetness.

Three Cheese Macaroni

By Biscuits and Such. Click here for recipe.

This original mac & cheese recipe swaps Velveeta for mozzarella, Swiss and shredded Parmesan. What makes it even better? A blend of seasonings like cayenne and chipotle to bring out the flavor in this dish.

Brown Butter Apple Tart

By For the Love of the South. Click here for recipe.

This tart makes for a great accommodation to a big feast thanks to its light and flaky texture. Fresh apples, thinly sliced, with vanilla-infused brown butter and sprinkles of brown sugar top a home-made crust. Yum.
